Kennebec Valley Community College, otherwise known as KVCC, located in Fairfield, Maine provides students with options for 1-year or 2-year courses.
By providing a more affordable alternative to the usual 4-year Bachelor’s Degree courses; students are given the opportunity to earn their diploma or certificate in the field of their choice without having to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The courses, affordable and can be completed in a shorter period of time as compared to a 4-year degree course; give the graduates better employment opportunities and increase their earning prospects by developing their skills and equipping them with the necessary know-how in their respective fields.
Online Courses for KVCC
Kennebec Valley Community College provides two options for their online courses: one is where you can take Programs Fully Online and the second is where you can take Programs Partially Online.
While it does say Programs Fully Online, you may still be required to go to attend one or two on-site meetings at the school campus. Not all courses however require this so you may still be able to find a course that you can complete online without having to set foot on campus.
Programs Fully Online
To date, courses under this program include the following: Business Administration which offers Marketing and Management options as well as Accounting and Finance options; and Computer Science.
To be able to graduate, you will need to complete the required number of credits, ranging from 60 to 67 credits for Computer Science, 66 credits for Business Administration in Finance and Marketing and Management, and 69 credits for Business Administration in Accounting.
Subjects for each course are spread over a period of four semesters and are worth three credit hours each.
Completion of the required credit hours is not the only basis for graduation. Students must also get a grade no lower than a “C” for each subject, with a GPA not lower than 2.0.
Programs Partially Online
Under this option, you have more choices for the courses: Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies, Computer Science – GIS and CADD; Health Information Technology, Medical Assistant and Biological Sciences.
To be able to graduate from Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies, you must complete 61-62 credits and you must also finish COM-104 and ENG 101 within the first fifteen credit hours.
For Computer Science, completion of 60-67 credit hours is required to be eligible for graduation; 68 credits for Health Information Technology; 64 credits for Medical Assistant; and 60-61 credits for Biological Sciences.
As with Programs Fully Online, students must have a GPA no lower than 2.0 to be able to graduate.
